CNN —Celebrity owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney could not have written a better Hollywood script since taking over Wrexham AFC in February 2021. The Welsh club earned its second consecutive promotion, this time to League One - English football’s third tier – following a 6-0 win over Forest Green Rovers on Saturday at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham, Wales. With the win, Wrexham trails Stockport by four points for the League Two title, though the league leader has played one game fewer. Wrexham is now two promotions away from the English Premier League, with the Championship – English football’s second tier – the next aim. Dingley, who has a UEFA pro licence, was appointed as caretaker head coach earlier this month following Duncan Ferguson's exit. She was also the only woman to manage a club academy in the English men's league. "I'm grateful to Hannah for holding the fort for the club while we went through the complete recruitment process," Forest Green owner Dale Vince said. Horseman also coached the Southampton first team when Ruben Selles was in charge and Vince said he stood out from over 100 applicants. "We're delighted to have David join as our head coach, he brings a wealth of experience and a modern approach to the game which matches our own," he added.

CNN —English football club Forest Green Rovers named Hannah Dingley as its interim head coach Tuesday, making her the first female head coach in English professional football. Dingley replaces outgoing coach Duncan Ferguson, who was appointed Forest Green manager in January, but was unable to stop the team from being relegated to League 2, the lowest tier of professional English football. Dingley’s Her position as head coach is a temporary one as the club looks to find a fulltime solution. Under Vince’s ownership, Forest Green has become well known for attempting to make a difference off the pitch. In 2017, Forest Green became the world’s first vegan club, according to the Vegan Society.
